Reminisce on Facebook With 'Memories'

Feeling nostalgic? Facebook wants to aid you reminisce.

The social network today launched Memories, a feature that will allow you look back at moments you've shared on the platform. Facebook's On This Mean solar day feature already lets you view updates and major life events from that aforementioned appointment years ago, merely Memories takes things a footstep farther.

Your Memories page will too remind you nearly friends you lot fabricated on that twenty-four hours, offering "special videos or collages that gloat your friendversaries," Facebook Product Managing director Oren Hod wrote in a Monday blog post. As well available will exist "seasonal or monthly recaps of memories that have been bundled into a bulletin or short video" along with some memories you might have missed from the past week.

Facebook first launched On This 24-hour interval in March 2022, ripping off Timehop. Facebook says more than xc meg people now utilise it every day.

"Inquiry suggests this kind of reflection can have a positive impact on people's mood and overall well-being," Hod wrote. "This is why we're updating the experience to ensure all of your memories are easy to notice."

That's not always the case. In 2022, Facebook found itself in hot h2o when its annual "Year in Review" feature, meant to serve up warm fuzzies, instead brought up painful memories some members didn't want to re-live. To avert a similar blunder, Facebook in October 2022 updated On This Day to let users filter out memories from sure people, specific dates, or appointment ranges.

"We know that memories are deeply personal — and they're not all positive," Hod wrote in today's post. "We try to listen to feedback and design these features so that they're thoughtful and offering people the correct controls that are easy to access. We work hard to ensure that we treat the content equally part of each private's personal feel, and are thankful for the input people accept shared with united states over the by three years."
